Every time I spot a big tree, I hug it and shoot a picture of it. The trees shown here make me even happier as they are surrounded by the fallen yellow leaves. The trees, the leaves, and the red jacket are quite a match indeed (Photo 1 and 3). But when it comes to the color blue, it may not be that eye-catching (Photo 2), unless the blues are complemented by green, orange, and red.

A day in Penang

I took this photo (Photo 1) in Penang, in a hotel lobby. I found this place pretty cozy and relaxing, but personally, I prefer sitting at a sidewalk food stall in the neighborhood with a bowl of fish ball noodle soup (Photo 2). The man in Photo 3 runs a food stall in the same district. He is busy reading his paper during his afternoon break. On the same lazy afternoon, I took this photo of a food court with a few customers in a moving taxi (Photo 4). Soon I returned to my hostel and was lucky enough to capture the late afternoon sunlight that nicely lit the temple and the tourists (Photo 5).

Cool mall

20121005 Cool mall - 1 20121005 Cool mall - 2

Few places in Hong Kong have a ceiling as high as this mall. I think you know how scarce land and space is in this city. So to build a mall that has left so much space unutilized is rare. And you might also think the “lighting design” in this mall is quite unique. That’s not the case. It’s just a trick in the white balance setting, which makes the photos (Photos 1 and 2) more interesting. By the same token, I stopped by a chapel and took this photo (Photo 3) with a tungsten mode in the white balance setting, which made the photo look so cool.
